Fanciful Thinking: The Call That Won’t Go Away
How do you know when God calls you to something, that it’s not just fanciful thinking – your imagination playing with your head or a desire to scratch another line from your bucket list? What makes you think God is calling you?
For me, the sign is a quiet yet persistent idea that simply won’t go away even after years, many distractions and other pre-occupying busyness. But I hesitate; somehow this description seems inadequate and an understatement. A call is more than just a notion. It is something you just can’t shake – a magnet pull to your soul; a subtle grip that gently but irrevocably draws you forward.
And it may be you want to give in and let go, to fall into the arms of the thing that calls but you simply can’t. There is a serious or impossible hurdle or roadblock like lack of time or money or energy or support or all of these things.
Then something shifts like the momentary flash of car lights that hit a marker on a dark highway signaling a pending change in the road direction. It may not be a big signal but rather a small indication that fractionally moves your sight line – a chance remark or a small word of encouragement that changes how you view the dilemma: “You do it so well. Don’t wait, do it now.” You didn’t expect it.
It happened that way with my decision to pursue a professional designation and it happened that way in my decision to write a book that turned into two.

Do you have something that tugs at your heart and mind that simply won’t go away but you can’t see a way forward or how to make it happen?
Can’t wait for the next post!
Hello Lynn. I intend to post twice a week (Wednesday evening and Sunday afternoon) and see if this suits readers.
